After getting back from Morocco I decided that this month I’m taking part in Sober October again. It’s the third consecutive year that I’ve done this. But this year is different, I’m again doing it through the official Macmillan charity event that they do each year, may page can be seen here. However, in the 2 previous years I’ve copped out by being bought a “golden ticket” which has allowed me to basically have a piss up.
I’ve made the decision that this time around that I won’t hacking the system. I’ll be doing 31 days sober and going the gym at least 5 days a week. There are 2 reasons for this – I want to lose weight and secondly and more importantly, I’ve had a terrible time with my mental health in the last few months and I want to see how much the challenge, as well as the obvious physical health benefits, impact what goes on in my stupid brain. I started counselling yesterday. so the two things combined should make an interesting month for me!
As something to keep me motivated to keep it up and also something I can refer back to see how I felt at various points throughout the month, I thought I’d write blog posts about it every now and again. At this point I’ve no idea how often they’ll be or if anybody will even read it but, here we are!
2 days in, 2 workouts done. no booze consumed. It’s a promising start…
